Wellington City Council pulls key arts paper following day of confusion

The council had agreed in its 10-year budget to allocate $150,000 of Aho Tini funding for Toi Pōneke in 2021-22, but the paper recommended reducing that to just $50,000.
It also recommended reducing planned funding for a programme aimed at “activating” public spaces, from $180,000 to just $80,000.
The proposals were made in response to public feedback on the Aho Tini programme, which recommended the money be redirected towards the council’s arts and culture fund that supports paid, independent artists and groups. ....

Heavy machinery ready to solve Ōwhiro Bay wave issue - even without consent


Eugene Doyle, the Ōwhiro Bay resident who led the charge to remove the naturally formed sand and gravel ramp, said the Regional Council needed to fast-track consent for the city council to send contractors in.
Regional council environment management general manager Al Cross​ said his council would give the application as much priority as it could.

“The immediate focus for Wellington City Council and Greater Wellington is ensuring that the outlined effects of the work are managed appropriately,” Cross said.
