Every day friends Steve Purdy and Floyd Arbeau make a trip to the New Life Mission for a cup of coffee and some companionship.
But their trek from North Kamloops to the downtown mission on Monday gave them something else to be thankful for as the men were treated to a turkey dinner, courtesy of mission staff and volunteers.
This helps a lot, said Purdy, 50, who is unemployed.
He enjoyed two plates of turkey, mashed potatoes and stuffing and packaged up another helping to take home. Arbeau did the same.
Purdy and Arbeau were joined by about 150 others who lined up out the door of the mission s dinning room in anticipation of the annual Thanksgiving dinner. ....
