Appeal for Christmas swimmers to be extra careful

People requested to forego the annual Christmas Day swim at the 40 Foot in Sandycove
The Coast Guard and the RNLI have appealed to people to be extra careful if they plan on taking part in a Christmas swim this year.
The Christmas Day swim has become a major tradition in recent years with crowds descending on the coast, such as the 40 Foot in Dublin and Inch Beach in Co Kerry.
Kevin Rahill, Water Safety Manager with the RNLI, told RTÉ s Morning Ireland said the RNLI is happy to see people getting out to enjoy the water as long as people are mindful of the Covid-19 restrictions in place, but to also remember the cold is a big problem at this time of year. ....
