K2 Base Camp Gets Its First 4G Transceiver
In line with the government’s vision of promoting tourism across the country, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and telecom operators are focusing on improving telecommunication services in areas that are full of tourism potential.
A 4G Base Transceiver Station (BTS) has been installed at the K2 Base camp area of Concordia to provide better communication facilities to mountaineers and trekkers. The site is called ‘Ali Sadpara’ in memory of the late high-altitude mountaineer who vanished on K2 this year.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has named the site of first-ever cellphone tower at the K2 base camp after late Pakistani mountaineer Ali Sadpara.
The PTA said that it was focusing on improving
