While site preparation for Finland’s Hanhikivi Unit 1 project continues, energy company Fennovoima said Monday that it had conditionally accepted design documents for Basic Design Stage One submitted by Russian parts supplier RAOS Project, part of Rosatom Corporation.
Fennovoima Chief Executive Officer Joachim Specht said, perhaps an understatement, “This has been a challenging year for everyone.” In spite of this, the project “has made significant progress during 2020. During these six months I’ve been in Fennovoima, it has been a pleasure to note how committed both our and the plant supplier’s has experts are to this project.” ....

Basic Design documentation for Hanhikivi-1 NPP submitted by Rosatom to Customer Fennovoima
Helsinki, Finland (Dec. 21, 2020) – RAOS Project Oy (part of Rosatom Corporation), the plant supplier of Hanhikivi-1 NPP, has submitted the Basic Design Stage 1 documentation package containing technical solutions description to Fennovoima Oy, the NPP Customer. The package has been reviewed by Fennovoima’s specialists and conditionally accepted for further work.
The Basic Design Stage 1 package comprises the main stages of documentation development for the creation of the NPP design. In accordance with the EPC contract, the submitted package includes description of such key areas as conceptual and functional NPP design, 3D model, NPP systems and buildings design. ....

Hanhikivi-1 design documents submitted to Finnish customer : New Nuclear

Fennovoima Oy has provisionally accepted the Basic Design Stage 1 documentation for the Hanhikivi-1 project in Finland from the nuclear reactor supplier, RAOS Project Oy, which is a subsidiary of Rusatom Energy International JSC, which is itself a subsidiary of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom.

In accordance with their Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) contract, the documentation includes a description of, for example, the conceptual and functional design of the plant, systems and buildings, and a 3D model. It provides the basis for the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR), which shall be reviewed and accepted by the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) before the construction licence is granted by the Finnish government. ....
