The temple was closed for devotees amid COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown that mandated religious places of worship to stay closed. Many devotees were seen standing in a queue outside the temple to have a darshan of the goddess. Meanwhile, the temple authorities had made necessary arrangements so that the devotees can have hassle-free darshan of the goddess while following COVID-19 guidelines strictly. The temple administration had decked up the temple in rangoli and flowers. At a time only 20 devotees were being allowed to enter into the temple. These winged beauties land on Mahanadi waters The number of Indian skimmers will rise during the breeding period between February and May Cuttack, Jan 6: Colourful Indian skimmers that are normally found in South Asia are now nesting at sandbars dotting Kakhadi and Mundali areas of River Mahanadi. According to a recent survey report, the number of the beautiful birds is somewhere around 300 at Cuttack. “Their number will grow during the breeding period between February and May,” according to Athagarh divisional forest officer (DFO) Sasmita Lenka. Interacting with Orissa POST, Lenka said, “These birds are categorised as vulnerable species by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and found in colonies associated with terns and cormorants. They breed once a year and it takes 21-30 days for an egg to hatch.” ....
Pangolin rescued from smugglers, released in forest area in Odisha s Cuttack ANI | Updated: Jan 03, 2021 03:04 IST Cuttack (Odisha) [India], January 3 (ANI): A pangolin that was rescued by an Athagarh Forest Division team in Cuttack from smugglers a few days back, was released in the forest on Saturday. While talking to ANI, Sasmita Lenka, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Athagarh said a total of 13 smugglers were arrested in the last one year in cases related to Pangolin smuggling. Few days back, we rescued one pangolin from some smugglers. It was in an ill condition. So, we kept it under our observation. The health condition of the pangolin was monitored for a few days and now it is fit to be introduced in the ecosystem and we relocated it in the reserve forest on Saturday, Lenka said. ....
Cop accused of detaining, terminating pregnancy of minor girl in Cuttack suspended Post News Network Also read: The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Cuttack had alleged police excess December 17 afternoon, saying that Nayak detained and terminated the pregnancy of the minor girl. The college-going girl was compelled to undergo a pregnancy test. Later, the accused policeman got her pregnancy terminated, for which she was detained for three nights at Narasinghpur police station. Four other police personnel from Narasinghpur police station were also arrested on the charge of aiding the accused officer. According to a CWC official source, the minor girl had gone missing a few days back. Consequent upon which an FIR was lodged by her family with the Narasinghpur police to trace the minor girl. ....
