Over 7.2 lakh cases booked for not wearing masks

Over 7,21,571 cases were booked against people who failed to wear masks across the State.
The police have been enforcing the rules effectively since April 9.
According to the police, the cases reached 7.21 lakh on Monday, and fines were also collected from people who were found not wearing masks in public places.
Separately 22,460 cases were booked for violation of physical distancing norms and other COVID-19 protocols.
The Greater Chennai City Police said 25,675 cases were filed against people who were not wearing masks in the city limits.
A total fine of ₹48,37,600 was collected from violators and another 431 cases were booked for violation of physical distancing norms. ....

Over 6,61,944 lakh cases were booked against people who failed to wear masks across the State. All the cases were booked from April 8 onwards, until Thursday.
A total of 6.61 lakh cases were booked against people who were not wearing masks in public places and fines were collected. The south zone booked 2.29 lakh cases while the north zone booked 1.26 lakh cases. Separately 20,656 cases were booked for violation of physical distancing norms and other COVID-19 protocols. ....

City Police Commissioner Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal on Monday said strongrooms storing electronic voting machines were under the surveillance of closed circuit television cameras and armed police personnel till the time of counting.
“There will be continuous surveillance at strongrooms with the deployment of police guards and monitoring through CCTV cameras. Officers will be deployed for round-the-clock monitoring. Any authorised entry into the strongrooms will be permitted only after a register entry,” Mr. Aggarwal said. ....
