19 patients wait for drug, Noida gets only 6 vials | Noida News


Noida: The district on Thursday received its first batch of six vials of liposomal amphotericin B, the antifungal drug used to treat mucormycosis or black fungus. The vials have been sent to the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) in Greater Noida, where two patients are being treated for the infection.
As of now, there are 19 patients admitted to various hospitals in Noida for mucormycosis. All of them have placed requests for the antifungal drug. “The first batch of the drug has arrived. More doses are likely to reach the city over the next few days,” said Deepak Ohri, the chief medical officer. On May 18, KK Gupta, the director-general of the medical education department, had issued an order regarding the allotment of vials to districts where cases of black fungus have been reported. ....

Noida/Ghaziabad: It is getting increasingly difficult to find a hospital bed for a Covid-19 patient in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad.
Only requests of locals are being entertained and people from other parts of the NCR are being turned down by the registration centres set up in the two districts to facilitate admission into the Covid care hospitals.
For registration, apart from the patient s name, age and address, the oxygen saturation level is also being asked. “I could not get my father admitted in Noida since my father’s Aadhaar card has a Delhi address. He has been staying with me for several months and got infected here in Noida,” said Akash Saxena, who lives in Sector 110. ....

ITBP establishes Covid care centre in Delhi for retired personnel amid rise in Covid cases

All hospitals under Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) have been activated and a Covid-care centre has been set up in Delhi for serving retired personnel of the force in view of the surge in coronavirus infections across the country, the paramilitary said on Friday.
ITBP director general SS Deswal issued a message in this regard to around 90,000 personnel and an estimated 20,000 retired dependents of the force.
“All our hospitals have been activated to treat our ‘Himveers’ (braves of the mountains) and their families. Our doctors are highly motivated and committed to take care of you.”
“A helpline is being started in this regard. A Covid-care centre has been made functional at Chhawla (south-west Delhi) campus and it is fully equipped,” a statement issued by the force quoting the DG said. ....
