List of 55 illegal colonies out, no FIR despite recommendation | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: With the issue of illegal colonies hogging limelight following opposition’s attack during the MC general house meeting recently, officials of the building branch have submitted a list of 55 illegal colonies under zone C. List of such colonies in four other zones is yet to be released. Notably, despite recommendation of registration of FIRs, no action has been taken so far against the developers of these colonies under the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation Act (PAPRA).
In the list, around 20 colonies, set up in around 95 acres, are under vigilance radar as there are allegations against an MC building inspector of illegally helping the developers. Under the regularization policy of 2018 too, not many developers had come forward to get themselves registered. And out of those, very less colonies were declared regularized. ....

Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], May 2 (ANI): Ludhiana s District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Sunday set up an 11-member committee to inspect and collect the cylinders amid a surge in oxygen demand due to rising COVID-19 infections in the state.
Passing official orders in this regard, the District Magistrate said the committee would be headed by Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) chief administrator Parminder Singh Gill as its chairman, according to a statement.
Gill will be followed by ADCP Jaskaran Singh Teja, PPCB SE Sandeep Behal, Executive Engineer PPCB Manohar Lal, Deputy Director Factories SS Bhatti, Assistant Labour Commissioner Baljeet Singh, besides five other officials as its members. ....

New bridge to come up near Jhammat village | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In a step that would benefit residents of both rural and urban areas of the city, a new bridge would be built at the cost of Rs 7 crore near Jhammat village.
Carpeting of approach roads leading to Jalandhar via Ladowal National Highway bypass and from the bridge to the underpass has also been approved. Both these projects, which have been a long-pending demand of the area residents who had been facing traffic jams due to the narrow bridge, will largely benefit people of South City, Ladowal, Barewal and those using this road to go to Jalandhar.
The bridge site near Jhammat village was inspected on Wednesday by officials of departments concerned along with councillor Mamta Ashu on behalf of cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.
