Court hears girl, 14, 'powerless' during alleged rape

A Coast court has heard how the alleged victim of a personal trainer felt powerless while being raped and was asked to kept it as their little secret .
The prosecution alleges Joey Myer raped a 14-year-old girl on January 4, 2019 and indecently treated her on seven occasions between October 1, 2018 and January 6, 2019.
Mr Myer pleaded not guilty in Maroochydore District Court on Monday, the first day of his trial, to 11 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16 and one count of rape.
Crown prosecutor Christopher Cook on Wednesday questioned if the jury believed the girl had made up and elaborately lied about the allegations as Mr Myer claimed or if the now 37-year-old had taken advantage of her. ....

Dad jailed 15 years for horrific rape of daughters

A Kingaroy father was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for raping and sexually assaulting his two stepdaughters and biological daughter, with the eldest being subjected to this abuse for more than a decade.
On February 24, 2021, the defendant pleaded guilty to 16 charges before Kingaroy District Court, including four counts of indecent treatment of a child under 12, two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, two counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child, six counts of rape, and two counts of sexual assault.
Reading the sentencing statements today (March 2, 2021), Judge Gary Long S.C. said the offending behaviour extended over a period of 15 years. ....

A former Coast political candidate accused of raping and touching a teenager over four months tried to stop the girl from telling the police or her parents, a court has heard.
Crown prosecutor Christopher Cook on Monday told Maroochydore District Court Joey Myer allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl on January 4, 2019.
Mr Cook said Mr Myer also indecently treated the girl on seven occasions between October 1, 2018 and January 6, 2019, by placing her hands on his penis, exposing his penis to her and touching her sexually.
Mr Myer has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mr Cook told the jury of nine women and three men that Mr Myer had allegedly masturbated in front of the victim and made her touch his penis in his Golden Beach apartment before he raped her for about five minutes in January 2019. ....
