From The Tribune staff reports LEEDS The Leeds Area Chamber of Commerce announced the 2021 Teacher of the Year Award on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Band teacher Erin Lyon, from Leeds Middle School, was awarded during a chamber luncheon. “The Leeds Area Chamber is a strong supporter of education and each year the Chamber recognizes a teacher from Leeds City Schools who exceeds expectations in serving our schools and students,” the chamber said in a press release about the event. “The Chamber sponsored this year’s Teacher Recognition Program and the award was presented by Leeds City Schools Superintendent John Moore.” Lyon is known to keep control of her band students while teaching them the fundamentals of music. She participates in afterschool activities with great energy, according to those who know her. ....
