ISLAMABAD: Police stopped the government employees from going to Parliament House and arrested over 50 protesters, here on Thursday.
The federal capital area from National Press Club (NPC) to Parliament House presented the scene of a battlefield where protesters and a heavy contingent of police were standing face-to-face till filing of the report.
The government employees from all-over the country had gathered in federal capital to stage a sit-in in front of the Parliament House. The government employees are demanding a 100 per cent increase in their salaries in the budget 2021-22. In case of non-acceptance of their demands, they warned of continuing their strike. ....

MULTAN: All Pakistan Clerks Association and Government Employees Grand Alliance Wednesday urged the government to issue a notification of 25 per cent disparity allowance in monthly salaries until May 4, otherwise the workers will observe a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly. Addressing a press conference here at Multan press club, the All Pakistan Clerks Association and Government Employees Grand Alliance office bearers formally announced to hold an indefinite protest against the non-release of 25pc disparity allowance in the salaries till May 3 and asked the employees should stockpile food items in view of the indefinite protest sit-in. The rising inflation has made it extremely difficult for poor employees to meet utility bills, including household expenses, they said. Quetta s Metropolitan Corporation employees have threatened to go on a hunger strike if their demands were not immediately met.
These views were expressed by Muhammad Anwar Damar, Chairman, Grand Employees Alliance Metropolitan Corporation Quetta, while addressing a press conference with officials of All Pakistan Clerks Association, Grand Employees Alliance Metropolitan at Quetta Press Club on Monday.
He highlighted how protests are being carried out for the last 28 days but the provincial government is not paying heed to it. “I have also sent a copy of my demands to the chief minister, chief secretary and the local government minister but did not receive any response.” ....

ISLAMABAD: The Constitution Avenue turned into a battlefield when the police used force to disperse government employees staging protest demonstration seeking increase in their salaries.
The police resorted to baton charge and threw hundreds of teargas shells to disperse the agitating employees as tens of protesters were arrested and sent to lockups of different police stations.
At least 30 protesting employees were taken into custody under Section 16 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO). The teargas shelling in the radius of 3 to 5 kilometre around the Constituted Avenue was so heavy that the people felt suffocation. All incoming roads including Islamabad Expressway and Motorway remained closed for hours. Islamabad Police fired extensive teargas at protesting government employees when they were heading towards the Parliament House. ....
