Trade bodies reject Sindh government's move to increase minimum wage

KCCI-karachi-chamber-of-commerce-IndustryTrade bodies including the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have rejected the Sindh government’s move to increase minimum wages by 43 percent and called it an unconstitutional step with negative consequences.
The KCCI issued a statement here and said industries of Sindh particularly of Karachi were highly aggrieved and perturbed by the Sindh government’s move to increase the minimum wage from Rs17,500 to Rs25,000 without following due process of law and contrary to the provisions of Sindh Minimum Wage Act 2015 and ILO’s minimum wages fixation convention 1970.
The increase in the minimum wage would make industries of Sindh uncompetitive and unviable to operate, not locally but also globally, it stated, adding that minimum wage in the centre and Punjab was Rs20,000 while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan it was Rs21,000 and the minimum wages fixed by Sindh were not equita ....

Faisalabad master plan in final stage: FDA

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Director General Dr Faisal Azim Sunday said the Faisalabad master plan was being given final touches after consultation of all stakeholders.
Addressing members of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) here, the FDA DG said the master plan would be a remarkable milestone for the organised and advanced development of industrial, agricultural and socio-economic sectors and concrete steps were being taken by FDA in this regard.
He expressed hope that the rapid development would emerge by implementing the Faisalabad master plan and the facilities of road network, bridges, hospitals, educational institutions, community centres, parks would be managed as per the ratio of population quantum beside besides increasing the beauty of the city. ....

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industry and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal Aslam has said all possible assistance would be provided to All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA) for relocating its industrial units in Quaid-e-Azam Business Park Sheikhupura.
He said this in response to a demand by a delegation of APTPMA which called on him and asked him for 200 acres of land in the industrial estate as they wanted to relocate the industrial units there. The minster said that a world-class special economic zone was being established in Sheikhupura. Mian Aslam Iqbal said that due to the investor-friendly policies of the Punjab government, industrialists were turning to Punjab for investment. The commerce additional secretary, PIEDMC CEO and other officers concerned officers were also present in the meeting. ....

Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal says industrialists are turning to Punjab due to the provincial government s investor-friendly policies.
He wa stalking to a delegation of All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association which called on him in Lahore.
During the meeting, the Minister said that Punjab has a very conducive environment for investment and all possible facilities are being provided to industrialists to establish their business.

Rs55b drinking water, sewerage facilities projects underway: Wasa MD

FAISALABAD: Wasa Managing Director Jabbar Anwar Chaudhry Wednesday said mega projects worth Rs 55 billion were underway to provide clean drinking water and sewerage facilities to citizens of Faisalabad.
Addressing a function organized by All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association and Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce in honour of Wasa officers, the Wasa MD said all these projects would be completed in three years and the state of the city would be changed.
He said industrial community is the pride of the city and their problems will be addressed on a priority basis.
He said a 44 million gallon wastewater treatment plant worth Rs 19 billion with the support of the Danish government, a French water supply project worth Rs 16 billion Phase II to provide 30 million gallons of drinking water daily would be established. ....
