M&M auto sales surge 505% YoY in March | Business Standard News


Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) announced that its overall auto sales (passenger vehicles+ commercial vehicles+ exports) for March 2021 stood at 40,403 units, up 505% compared with 6,679 units in March 2020.
Sequentially, the company s auto sales surged 40.40% in March 2021 from 28,777 units sold in February 2021.
In the utility vehicles (UVs) segment, M&M sold 16,643 vehicles in March 2021, compared with 3,111 vehicles in March 2020, registering a growth of 435% YoY (year-on-year). The passenger vehicles segment (which includes UVs, cars and vans) sold 16,700 vehicles in March 2021, recording a growth of 394% over 3,383 units during the same period last year. Total exports for the month of March 2021 were at 2,126 vehicles, up by 284% from 554 vehicles sold in the same period last year. ....

M&M reports sale of 40,403 units in March, exports stand at 2,126 units


The company had dispatched 6,679 units in March 2020 amid sales disruptions due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The Mumbai-based automaker sold 16,700 passenger vehicles last month in the domestic market. It had dispatched 3,383 units in March 2020.
It sold 21,577 commercial vehicles in the domestic market last month. The company had dispatched just 2,742 units in March 2020 due to coronavirus-led lockdown.
At Mahindra we are witnessing very good momentum in demand and have a strong pipeline of bookings across our SUV range of Bolero, Scorpio, XUV300, All-New Thar and also the Bolero Pik-up, M&M Automotive Division CEO Veejay Nakra said in a statement.
In fact Bolero volumes for March have been the highest in this financial year and despite supply constraints the company has been able to ramp up production of Bolero Pik-up significantly during the month, he added. ....

Strong rebound for domestic car industry in March
The domestic passenger vehicle industry ended fiscal 2021 with a strong rebound in March with the highest ever monthly sales tally of over 320,000 units. These are more than double of the tally in March last year when the base was low due to the shift from BS IV to BS VI emission norms. Sales last year were also impacted by the pandemic as the lockdown had kicked in from the 25th. ....

Major auto firms log robust sales in March on pent up demand


Leading automakers Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors on Thursday reported robust sales in March as a shift towards personal mobility and pent up demand continued to help companies push dispatches to their respective retail partners.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Honda Cars and Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) also reported strong sales last month as compared to the year-ago period, when dispatches were adversely impacted due to the impending transition to BSVI from April 2020 and the nationwide lockdown to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The country s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India said its domestic sales stood at 1,49,518 units last month. The auto major had reported sales of 76,976 units in March 2020. ....
