Ciego de Avila, Cuba, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Farmers in this central province introduced sowing four new varieties of pineapple, as part of the strategy currently aimed at diversifying the production of that fruit in Cuba.
Romelio Rodriguez, a specialist in technology, science and innovation in the Pineapple Basic Enterprise Unit (UEB) in Ceballos, pointed out that the genotypes produced in the Bioplant Center in Ciego de Avila are currently being studied in the field.
About 105,000 pineapple vitroplants of MD-2, Perola, Shampakaf-153 and Cayera Lisa varieties have been sown, all still in research phase, with good morpho-physiological disorders and shoot multiplication, Rodriguez stated. ....
