Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah on Thursday said that the A.P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) was converting its sleeper (Vennela) buses into mobile hospitals equipped with oxygen concentrators, to extend emergency medical services to the people affected by the COVID-19 in the remote villages and Agency areas of the State. ....

Virus effect: APSRTC to alter bus schedules

Focus on cost of operation and occupancy ratio, MD tells officials
A.P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director R.P. Thakur on Thursday directed the officials to rework on the schedules of bus operations based on the dwindling number of people opting for public transport in view of the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Thakur reviewed the issues arising out of the spurt in positive cases, and directed the officials to alter the operation schedules with focus on key issues such as cost of operation and occupancy ratio.
In case of cancellation of a bus service, or merger of two routes, the customers should be informed about the change through phone calls, Mr. Thakur said. ....

1,251 special buses from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, 433 buses from Bengaluru and 133 buses from Chennai will be operated.
To cater to transportation needs of additional crowd during the Sankranthi festival, the A.P. State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate 3,607 special buses from January 8 to 13, corporation executive director (operations) K.S. Brahmananda Reddy said.
For people arriving in the State from neighbouring States, the corporation will run 1,251 special buses from Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana, 433 buses from Bengaluru and 133 buses from Chennai. ....
