Army Chief Faruk Yahaya Appoints New PSOs, Field Commanders, Others


(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has approved the appointment of Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), Field Commanders and other key staff officers to provide the needed vigour in his command of the Nigerian Army (NA).
The Director Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Nwachukwu disclosed that the Chief of Operations (Army), Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Yusuf, now becomes the Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), while Maj.-Gen. B.O Sawyer is the new Director of Defence Information.
He also said that Maj.-Gen. TA Gagariga would move from Army Headquarters, Department of Policy and Plans, to the Nigerian Army Artillery Corps as Commander and Maj.-Gen. Victor Ezugwu becomes the Commander, Infantry Corps. ....

Don't spare Boko Haram - Gen Yahaya to troops after elimination of 50 terrorists


The TC’s encouragement followed the elimination of the sect’s commanders and fighters.
Since Operation Tura Takai Bango commenced in January, more than 50 terrorists have been killed.
During his operational tour of formations on Friday, Yahaya hailed soldiers for their victories in Bama axis, Pulka, deep into Boko Haram and ISWAP camps.
He was accompanied by the Theatre Logistics Component Commander, Major General P. I. Eze; Commander 37 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General M. Bashir; Colonel G. E. Archibong and other senior officers.

Bandits Abduct 26 in Kaduna as 246 Suspected Terrorists Surrender in Borno

Gunmen yesterday abducted about 26 people along the Kaduna-Kachia road and Kugo village, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. While 21 of the victims were, reportedly, kidnaped along the Kaduna-Kachia road, five women were abducted at Kugo village, near Godani Railway Station, Chikun Local Government Area, on their way to the farm. Both incidents occurred Friday.
However, in Borno State, about 246 suspected Boko Haram members, reportedly, laid down their arms and surrendered as part of the current efforts at ceasefire.
The counsellor representing Zonkwa ward in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the state, Luka Bako, was among those abducted along the Kaduna-Kachia road, but he miraculously escaped. ....
