Cancer patients diagnosed in the past five years should also be prioritised for the Covid-19 vaccine, without an age restriction, an infectious diseases specialist has said in his letter to the Health Ministry and NITI Aayog top-brass.
The list of co-morbidities eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine mentions cancer patients at the highest risk, but cancer patients in the 18-45 age group are also vulnerable and need to be included, Dr Abdul Ghafur, an infectious diseases consultant at Chennai’s Apollo Cancer Institute, told ....

In the next phase of COVID-19 vaccination drive commencing on Monday, the Union government must consider including all persons diagnosed with cancer in the last five years, even if they were presently not on treatment and irrespective of age limits, said Abdul Ghafur, coordinator, Chennai Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance and consultant, infectious diseases, at Apollo Cancer Institute, here.

'Super Car Rally' organised in Hyderabad for cancer awareness

The rally, organised by Apollo hospitals, was flagged off by Tollywood actress Malavika Sharma.
“In order to create awareness among the public about the early detections and prevention of cancer, Apollo hospitals along with Cure Foundation have organised ‘Super Car Rally’ in Hyderabad,” Dr Vijay Anand Reddy, Director of Apollo Cancer Institute told ANI.
Dr Reddy said that prevention measures and minor changes in lifestyle can nearly prevent 75 per cent of the risk of getting cancer.
“People must be aware that cancer can be detected in its early stage and prevented. Simple prevention measures and minor changes in lifestyle can nearly prevent 75 per cent of the risk of getting cancer. The children and youngsters must take utmost care right from childhood. They must eat vegetarian food, exercise for 30 to 40 minutes every day, and should not smoke,” he said. ....
