As per details, the committee will include prominent engineers from the regulator as well as private sector. The committee will investigate the reasons behind the breakdown. January 11, 2021 ISLAMABAD/LAHORE/KARACHI: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has constituted a four-member inquiry committee to look into facts/causes of collapse of power system late Saturday night, which plunged most of the country into dark. According to the NTDC notification, the committee includes GM North Malik Javeed Mehmood, GM technical NTDC Ghulam Abbas Memon, CE NTDC Atif Mujeeb Usmani and Chief Engineer (Network) NPCC Sajjad Akhtar. Malik Javed Mehmood would be convener of the committee, while the other three would be its members. The committee would probe into reasons/facts leading to collapse of the power system. ....

According to details, the suspended employees include Adl. Plant Manager Suhail Ahmed, Junior Engineer Deedar Ali Channa, Foreman, Ali Hassan Golo, Operator Ayyaz Hussain Dahar and Saeed Ahmed , besides attendants Siraj Ahmed Memon and Ilyas Ahmed. Pakistan goes dark ISLAMABAD: The entire country plunged into darkness after it suffered complete power breakdown few minutes before midnight. The power blackout was caused by sudden drop of frequency in high transmission line (HTL) to 0 from 50. According to initial report, a technical fault appeared in Guddu Power House at 11:45pm owing to which the frequency in high transmission line (HTL) instantly went down causing the closure of all power houses across the country. Minister for Energy (Power Division) Omar Ayub Khan said: “The whole country has been exposed to electrical blackout and I am personally supervising the operation for restoration of power supply and right now I am in NPCC.” The Energy Minister further said that the blackout was caused after the frequency in the national power distribution system suddenly fell from 50 to zero. ....
