So far in South Canterbury 1072 people have had their first Covid-19 vaccination to April 6 and 313 have had their second one. Nationally 71,013 have received the first injections and 19,273 have had their second dose. Of that total 5021 Pacific people have had their first dose and 1987 their second. Latu said no matter what visa Pasifika were on they had the option of having the vaccine. “We want to get ahead of the game before it is rolled out to the general public.” She said because Pasifika often had other underlying health issues it was important they based their choice on facts.
