At least 46 people have died and another 15 remain missing after heavy rains and flash floods hit 15 of the 34 provinces in Afghanistan and damaged around 1,000 houses, officials said on Wednesday.
The number of martyred has increased to 46, another 15 people are missing and six people are injured in various provinces of the country, Ministry for Disaster Management spokesperson Tamim Azimi told EFE.
Women and children are also among those dead and missing in the rains and flash floods that have continued over the past two days. ....

Flash floods caused by heavy rains have caused the death of at least 16 people, including four children, in the Afghanistan, officials said Tuesday.
Heavy rains overnight caused severe flooding in the provinces of herat, Ghor, Maidan Wardak, Baghlan, Samangan, Khost, Bamyan, Daikundi and Badakhshan, also causing damages to livestock and farmland.
Based on the initial information in these flash floods at least 16 people are martyred, 10 are missing in nine provinces of the country, the State Ministry for Disaster Management said in a statement. ....

Kabul, Feb 19 : An earthquake jolted eastern Afghanistan and was felt in the capital city of Kabul on Thursday night.
The country s Ministry for Disaster Management and Humanitarian Affairs confirmed that the tremor occurred at around 10:50 p.m. (1820 GMT), adding that details will be shared with the media later, the Xinhua news reported.
The tremor was reportedly at a magnitude of 4.0.
The mountainous country is located in one of the most earthquake-prone areas.
