The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, said it has become imperative for Nigeria to establish its own jute bag industries to meet international best practices for the export of Cocoa and sundry agricultural produce.
The Minister said the production of the jute bags in Nigeria will increase foreign earnings, healthy preservation and certification of the cocoa crop.
Nanono said that the ministry would seek collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning in ensuring that appropriate policy measures and counterpart funding were put in place to fast track the setting up of jute bag factories across the nation and also commence the cultivation of Kenaf, which can grow in any part of the country and happens to be the raw material for the production of jute bags. ....

The Oyo State Government has indicated that the electronic computation of data of all pensioners in the state would soon commence in line with the directives of the state governor, Seyi Makinde.
The indication was given by the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Alhaji ‘Siju Lawal, while presenting gratuity cheques to retirees for the month of August, 2013 at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Ibadan, on Monday.
It will be recalled that the pensioners in the state had lived under the pain of unpaid gratuities since year 2012 with many casualties recorded and an outstanding gratuity accruing to about N28bn. ....

COVID-19: Osun govt urges residents to go for test as cases surge

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafius Isamotu, said this on Monday in Osogbo the state capital.
Isamotu who lamented the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in the state and other parts of the country insisted that mass testing would help in curtailing the spread of the disease.
He expressed disappointment at those who, according to him, refuse to believe the reality of the virus stressing that the UK COVID-19 strain is deadlier.
The Commissioner charged people of the state to stop the spread of the virus by masking up and following all the COVID -19 guidelines and protocols. ....

We inherited gratuity debt of N28bn, disbursed over N3bn to 76 retirees for 2012 - Oyo govt

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Monday said his government has paid gratuity to seventy-six (76) retirees in the state.
DAILY POST reports that three billion, four hundred and twenty million Naira was paid to the retirees to clear the 2012- 2013 unpaid gratuity.
Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Siju Lawal presented the cheques to the retirees on Monday.
Lawal spoke on behalf of Makinde while presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Ibadan.
The commissioner while speaking added that the State Government inherited unpaid gratuity debt of about N28 billion from the previous administration as outstanding for the year 2012, up until May 2019 when the present administration received the mantle of leadership in Oyo State. ....
