Ahmad Maslan's money laundering, giving false statement trial to begin in June 2022

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The trial of Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan
(pic) who is facing charges of money laundering and providing false statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), will begin in June next year.
High Court Judge Datuk Ahmad Shahrir Mohd Salleh fixed 23 days in 2022 to hear the case, namely from June 7 to 9; June 13 to 15; July 18 to 21; July 25 to 28; August 15 to 19; and August 22 to 25.
The case was fixed for first mention on Friday (July 30) for the two charges against Ahmad, 55, to be re-read to him after Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah on July 13 allowed his application to have his case transferred from the Sessions Court to the High Court. ....

The Blantyre Water Board (BWB) disconnected water at government office complex in Blantyre due to unpaid bills amounting to over K2 675 922 posing unhygienic danger to civil servants who operate in the building.
The situation has created panic among those working in the building on the use of water-run sanitation facilities like toilets.
One civil servant, who work at the District Commissioners Office, who opted for anonymity, said the absence of water will affect workers in as far as the use of toilets is concerned. ....

Failure to declare RM1 million to IRB: Shahrir seeks to recuse Judge

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Felda Chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Ab Samad (
pix), who is facing a charge with failing to declare the RM1 million received from former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) has applied to recuse High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali from hearing his application to transfer the case from the Court Session to the High Court.
His lawyer, Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin, who represented Shahrir, told the court that he filed the application after receiving instructions from his client to do so.
Based on the affidavit filed on Dec 17, Shahrir applied to the court for an order for Judge Mohd Nazlan to recuse himself from hearing the matter and for it to be transferred to another High Court as “there is a ‘real possibility (danger) of bias”. ....
