DOST conducts energy audit of 5 city halls in Luzon

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña reported that the DOST-ITDI conducted a one-day energy assessment of city halls as part of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP) under Republic Act No. 11285, which was signed into law by President Duterte in 2019.
He identified the cities of Malabon, Caloocan, Pasay, Biñan, and Parañaque as the five local government units (LGUs) that were assessed by the DOST-ITDI team.
“This energy assessment involves random checking of office energy-consuming equipment, measuring electricity consumption of the building, and interviewing the Energy Conservation Officer (ECO) regarding the LGUs policies on Energy Conservation and Efficiency,” he said during his weekly report on Friday, July 2. ....

“In this time of the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic, it is important to have a more streamlined approach to our resources and to leave nobody and no place behind. Much of this has to be implemented at the community and the municipal level,” said EU Head of Cooperation Christoph Wagner during the online forum on “Financing Modalities and Tools to Advance Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) in Local Planning and Development in Visayas & Mindanao.”
“We need to rethink our approach: how to reach out and work together, how to jointly define pipelines and priorities and how to determine the right financing mechanisms accordingly. The EU is happy to provide some support for moving in this direction,” Wagner said. ....

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 13 (PIA) To promote effective implementation of RA11285 or the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act in government establishments, the he Department of Energy - Mindanao Field Office (DOE-MFO) held on Tuesday an energy efficiency webinar among national government agencies (NGAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), and government-owned-and-controlled corporations (GOCCs) in Mindanao.
