Srinagar, May 23: A suspected Mucormycosis (Black Fungus) patient is admitted at Government Dental College (GDC) Srinagar.
Officials at the Dental College Srinagar told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a suspected case of black fungus is admitted at the hospital, however, final confirmation is yet to come.
Dr Irshad Ahmad Misger, Assistant Professor at Oral & Maxillofacial department Government Dental College Srinagar said that a patient from Srinagar, who was tested positive for Covid-19 on May 05 this year and had recovered recently, has been admitted at GDC and is a suspected case of black fungus. ....

The administration of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Monday declared black fungus or mucormycosis as an epidemic disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act- 1897.
Officials said that the UT’s Health and Medical Education today issued a notification to declare black fungus as an epidemic disease.
The move comes days after the Government of India directed the states and Union territories to make black fungus a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
Jammu and Kashmir reported its first death due to black fungus on Friday after a 40-year-old Covid-19 recovered patient died of mucormycosis at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu. ....
