On June 20, 2021 at approximately 4:50 a.m., detectives from the Special Investigations Division located and arrested Ernesto Contreras, a 43-year-old resident of Long Beach. Contreras was arrested in his vehicle in the 800 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue after Homicide detectives collected evidence of his involvement in the June 19, 2021 shooting death of the victim who is only being identified as a 34-year-old resident of Long Beach, pending notification of the next of kin. Contreras was booked on one count of murder and is currently being held in the Long Beach City Jail on $2,000,000 bail.
