KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Reuters) - Malaysia will hold bilateral talks with Thailand to seek assurances there will be no disruption to the supply of AstraZeneca (AZN.L) vaccines manufactured in its Southeast Asian neighbour, a Malaysian minister said on Friday.
Malaysia will also consider ramping up the supply of vaccines developed by China's Sinovac (SVA.O) if there are shortages of the AstraZeneca vaccine, Science Minister Khairy Jamaluddin told a news conference.

More than half of adults in the European Union are now vaccinated, and regional leaders turned up the pressure to get even more people immunised. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that will be the deciding factor for the future course of the pandemic.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is facing warnings that his plan to ease pandemic restrictions in England could lead to a rise in infections that will strain hospitals and undermine an economic recovery. In Scotland, face masks remain mandatory in public places and the government is maintaining its work-from-home policy. In Greece and the Netherlands, cases surged.

(Bloomberg) -- Malaysia’s Covid cases which topped a record 11,000 on Tuesday may climb further in the next few days before stabilizing as the outbreak is being driven by the contagious Delta variant, Health Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
“We projected that the number of cases from July 3 will increase. It has been a week, and we anticipate that it will go up for a week or two, before we see cases stabilize,” he said at a briefing. “One of the reasons is because of the Delta variant. It is airborne and so the transmission is faster.”
