7 fall prey to virus, 459 catch infection in Jalandhar district

As many as 459 people tested positive for Covid in the district today, taking the district tally to 57,290. Of these, 62 are from other districts. With seven more deaths reported today, the death toll in the district has increased to 1,306. As many as 51,310 people have recovered from the disease in the district, while the number of active cases is 4,674.

As many as 86 Covid cases and four deaths have been reported in the district today. With the cases reported on Sunday, the total number to date has increased to 10,735 and the positivity rate is 4.99 per cent. Maximum number of cases have again been reported from Balachaur at 26. ....

4 die, 454 new cases in Jalandhar district

With 454 new cases of Covid-19 reported in the district on Tuesday, the district tally has reached 37,560. Of these 454 cases, as many as 40 belong to other districts. Four Covid patients also succumbed to the virus today taking the death toll to 1,024. While 33,162 persons have so far been discharged, there are 3,374 active cases in the district. Among the deceased were two persons were below the age of 40.
In Kapurthala, 63 positive cases were reported today. Three patients lost their lives two women and a 66-year-old man. To date, a total of 11,088 positive cases have been reported, of which 707 are active. Samples of as many as 1,647 were collected today. ....

With 201 persons testing positive for Covid, the tally reached 10,330 in Hoshiarpur district. With seven deaths, the toll also became 413. The number of active cases is 1,302 at present, while 9,094 patients have recovered.
Civil Surgeon Dr Ranjit Singh said of 201 positive patients, 19 were from Hoshiarpur city, while 182 were from other health blocks of the district. Those who died on Monday include a 60-year-old resident of Dhoot Kalan village, a 55-year-old resident of Nasrala village, a 70-year-old woman resident of Sham Churasi town and a 66-year-old woman from Bullowal village, who died at private hospitals in Jalandhar, while a 72-year-old resident of Saila Khurd died at MH Jalandhar. A 71-year-old woman of Sikri vllage died at a hospital in Nawanshahr and a 59-year-old patient of Paldi died at Medical College Patiala. ....

The health authorities declared Dhamai village of Garhshankar sub-division a micro-containment zone after 11 persons tested positive in the last few days. Additional District Magistrate-cum-Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Amit Kumar Panchal issued an order under Section 144 of the CrPC in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

With health authorities reporting 27 Covid-19 positive cases in Hoshiarpur district on Monday, the total number of patients has increased to 8,323. The authorities reported two more deaths and the toll reached 358. The deceased have been identified as a 72-year-old patient from Dasmesh Nagar and a 59-year-old resident of Pandori Suleman village. Civil Surgeon Dr Ranjit Singh said at present, the district has 188 active cases and the recovery count reached 7,900.
