Saskatoon / 650 CKOM Jan 29, 2021 4:13 PM Saskatoon Public Schools is hoping to explore a different location for the new consolidated City Centre School Optimist Park. The new west-side facility, which was approved by the provincial government in March, will combine three core neighbourhood elementary schools: Pleasant Hill, King George and Princess Alexandra. Originally, the school board thought the Princess Alexandra site might work out. But at Tuesday’s planning, development and community services committee meeting, director of education Shane Skjerven will present the second option. A letter he wrote to the committee indicates that during preliminary discussions with primary stakeholders, the idea for an alternate site was presented. ....
Alexandra School congratulates Trey Cumberbatch, 2021 Rhodes Scholar Article by December 16, 2020 The Board of Management, principal, staff and students of the Alexandra School have congratulated Trey Cumberbatch, a past student, on his selection as the 2021 Rhodes Scholar for the Commonwealth Caribbean. Mr. Cumberbatch was chosen by the selection committee from among seven other regional candidates vying for the prestigious international scholarship. In a congratulatory message, Principal, Orson Alleyne, described the 23-year-old as “outstanding in his pursuit of academic excellence”. Mr. Alleyne also wished him continued success in his specialty area of Mental Health, as he believes Mr. Cumberbatch will be “instrumental in the evolution of a Mental Health Policy for our nation”. However, the clinics will continue at other venues for the week.
