The North Hastings Community Cupboard (NHCC) is in need of more people to help get meals out to area residents
Monica Piercy with the NHCC says Cafe 580, which distributes free mealsseven days a week, will need more volunteers now that some of their staff are returning to work. They are looking for people to distribute meals, clean up afterwards and do meal preparation. As the NHCC serves 130-170 meals a day to people across the region, they would like to keep a full staff of people working. ....

Volunteers Wanted at North Hastings Community Cupboard

The North Hastings Community Cupboard is looking for Volunteers.
They say because of the increase in the volume of food they put out, they need a variety of volunteers from cooks to repairmen to just plain muscle. However, Monica Piercey with the Community Cupboard says they’re looking for someone with a certain attitude. A willingness to help and not be judgemental is the greatest skill someone can bring to the table. Volunteering comes with its own perks, including job certification like safe-food preparation.

CARE North Hastings is adjusting during COVID-19 | Bancroft this Week

In this fourth of a series on local organizations and the impact COVID-19 is having on their operations and volunteer base, The Bancroft Times reached out to CARE North Hastings to see how they are weathering the pandemic.
Senior program coordinator Jenn Potsma, tells us that some volunteer drivers are no longer providing transportation services but overall, they are doing alright with the drivers that remain. Initially there were some issues with the delivery of meals when some of the regular drivers decided not to continue, but fortunately they have found others to fill in.
One of the good things to happen during COVID-19 is that CARE North Hastings has teamed up with Bancroft Community Transit who has been delivering the frozen meals for them over four different routes. ....
