Pakistan, Sri Lanka agree to enhance bilateral cooperation

Pakistan and Sri Lanka have agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in training and professional enhancement programs.
The understanding was reached at a meeting between Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan and Sri Lankan Defence Secretary and State Minister of National Security and Disaster Management, Retired General G.D.H. Kamal Gunaratne in Colombo.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest came under discussion.
Talking to the Air Chief, the Sri Lankan Defence Secretary said both countries enjoy commonality of views on various regional and international issues. ....

With the participation of the Indian Air Force Chief and 23 aircraft in the three-day event in Colombo to mark the 70th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), India sought to reaffirm its strong defence cooperation with Sri Lanka. The last time Indian aircraft took part in such an event was in 2001, on the occasion of the SLAF’s 50th year, according to Captain Vikas Sood, Defence Adviser at the Indian High Commission. ....

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan called on the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo today (Thursday). 
During the meeting the Sri Lankan Prime Minister acknowledged Pakistan s unwavering support to Sri Lanka in any hour of need. 
He also reiterated to further enhance the existing friendly relations between both the countries.
The Air Chief expressed his gratitude to the Sri Lankan Prime Minister for hospitality and warmth extended by people of Sri Lanka. 
He added that the people of Pakistan and Sri Lanka have deep rooted historic and cultural linkages and both nations always stood together in the times of crises as well as national festivities. He also conveyed Pakistan s desire and resolve to further enhance the existing civil and military cooperation between the two countries. ....

Pakistan ready to take peace process with India forward: PM - Newspaper


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday signalled Pakis­tan’s readiness to take the peace process with India forward and said making headway was contingent on India providing an environment conducive to progress.
“We have always stood for peace and remain ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues through dialogue,” the prime minister said in a series of tweets on the second anniversary of Pakistan Air Force’s ‘Swift Retort’ operation in which two intruding Indian Air Force fighters were shot down and one of the pilots was captured.
The prime minister’s message reflected the recent developments on the bilateral front in which the two arch-rival neighbours agreed to honour a ceasefire on the Line of Control that has witnessed some of the worst violations by the Indian troops in recent years. ....
