Sentencing hearing continues for Oshawa man who killed, dismembered two young women

A sentencing hearing continues today for the 47-year-old man who killed and dismembered two young women who went missing in Oshawa nearly a decade apart.
Adam Strong was found guilty in March of first-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Rori Hache and manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Kandis Fitzpatrick.
During Strong’s sentencing hearing, which began on Thursday, the court heard from the families of both Hache and Fitzpatrick, who spoke about the trauma they have faced following the deaths of the two women.
“I will never see her fall in love, graduate school, be married and have children,” Hache’s mother Shanan Dionne said during a victim impact statement delivered over Zoom. ....

The father of one of two young women killed and dismembered by Adam Strong said in a statement Thursday that the gruesome murder of his 18-year-old daughter is “every parent’s worst nightmare.”
“Because of this monster we will never get to walk Rori or Kandis down the aisle, we will never get to be grandparents, we will never get to spend the holidays or birthdays together,” Erik Hache said in a written victim impact statement, which was read in court by the Crown prosecutor during the sentencing hearing for Strong on Thursday. ....

A 47-year-old Oshawa man sentenced to life in prison for killing and dismembering two young women in Oshawa over the span of nearly a decade is a “dangerous predator” who will “never be seen in public again,” a judge said Friday.
At the conclusion of a two-day sentencing hearing on Friday, Ontario Superior Court Justice Joseph Di Luca sentenced Adam Strong to life in prison without the chance of parole for 25 years for the murder of 18-year-old Rori Hache, who disappeared in 2017. Strong was also handed a concurrent 18-year sentence for manslaughter in the death of 19-year-old Kandis Fitzpatrick, who was last seen by her family in 2008. ....
