Fallen stars: Kanata woman honours COVID-19 deaths

Wilhelmina Ross has made and hung stars for each Ottawa life lost to COVID-19. She shows off the stars that hang along Campeau Drive.
Motorists and other passersby on Campeau Drive in Kanata may notice a particular hedgerow decorated with a long, solitary string of crocheted white stars.
At first glimpse, the string may appear as no more than a seasonal accoutrement enlivening these wintertime evergreens, but of a greater and more revealing significance is the number of stars currently on the string: 390. That’s one for every person in Ottawa who has died of COVID-19, plus an extra one for creator Wilhelmina Ross’s cousin’s husband, who likewise died of COVID in the Netherlands. ....
