A Dunedin man has completed an arduous 580km, five-day run to raise money for the Otago Community Hospice, which has missed out on much needed funding due to the effects of COVID-19.
Glenn Sutton ran from Milford Sound to Mt Aoraki (Cook) in one go - a distance of approximately 580km. He set off last Thursday morning at 8:30am, and reached the summit at around 1:20pm on Monday. 
Sutton s daughter Emily, who joined her father on a few segments of the run, said her father s heroic effort was for a cause close to everyone s heart . ....

Two years ago, after his first throat cancer diagnosis, Steve Carr had nothing but praise for his treatment through the Southern District Health Board.
Now his cancer has returned, but since September last year a sorry sequence of misdiagnosis, missed opportunities and mishandled appointments mean this has been a very different experience for the 63-year-old Dunedin taxi driver. ....

The funeral of former Dunedin mayor Dave Cull will be held at the Dunedin Town Hall on Monday.
Cull, 71, died at his home on Tuesday, six months after he was diagnosed with a tumour on his pancreas. He was elected to the Dunedin City Council in 2007 and served three terms as mayor from 2010.
A city council spokesman said the funeral was being arranged privately and the council was unable to discuss details yesterday.

Former Dunedin mayor Dave Cull has died after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, the Otago Daily Times understands. He was 71.
Cull was diagnosed in October last year and received chemotherapy treatment.
He had been diagnosed with a tumour on his pancreas earlier that month and told the Otago Daily Times he knew then he was likely to face a tough journey ahead.
He spent about five weeks in hospital earlier this year before being discharged in March.
He then spent four nights at the Otago Community Hospice in Dunedin before returning home. ....
