KARACHI: Japanese and Chinese bike assemblers have shocked their buyers with surprise price hikes on the eve of Eidul Azha.
Without giving any reason in their price revision letters to their authorised dealers, the Japanese assemblers have raised prices by Rs2,400-8,000 for different models.
While Chinese bike-makers have jacked up rates by Rs500-Rs2,000 attributing it to rising raw material (steel, plastic and resin) prices on the world markets coupled with rising rates of locally made parts.
The market leader Atlas Honda Ltd (AHL) has shocked buyers by raising prices by Rs2,400-5,000 on various models effective from Wednesday, the day nation will be celebrating Eidul Azha. ....

FY21 'recovery year' for auto sector - Newspaper

KARACHI: The last fiscal year (FY21) turned out to be a massive recovery period for the auto sector amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic as car sales soared by 56.7 per cent, followed by 19.7pc increase in trucks, 16.6pc in buses, 227pc in jeeps, 57pc in pickups, 55pc in tractors and 39pc in two- and three-wheelers.
The entire auto sector remained bearish from March to May 2020 due to the Covid-19 restrictions including a countrywide locked down in April.
Buying interest among consumers revived after the reopening of markets in June 2020 and since then, there has been no looking back for the sector. ....

KARACHI: The auto sector in the first seven months of the current fiscal year (7MFY21) registered brisk growth, posting an increase of 18 per cent in car sales, 137pc in jeeps, 32pc in pickups, 12pc in Fiat and 84pc in Massey Ferguson tractors and 18pc in two- or three-wheelers. The only exception were heavy vehicles which posted negative sales.
According to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), total car sales stood at 81,569 units in 7MFY21 versus 69,189 units in the same period last fiscal. Car sales in Jan 2021 sales increased to 14,543 units as compared to 10,095 units in Jan 2020. ....
