Clackamas County commissioners voted 4-1 on June 22 to take no further action on the Park Avenue Community Advisory Committee s recommendation to prohibit auto-oriented land use along McLoughlin Boulevard.
Launched in 2017, Park Avenue Community Project aimed to create a vibrant, inclusive, affordable neighborhood by updating land-use design and development standards, including limitations on car dealerships and other auto-oriented businesses.
While this planning effort for the Park Avenue area ended with an impasse, a separate county project could increase housing densities around urban areas like Park Avenue s light-rail station.  ....

Clackamas elected official arrested for commercial sexual solicitation can remain in office even if convicted
In light of the arrest of Clackamas Community College board member Dave Hunt for commercial sexual solicitation, CCC President Tim
Cook emailed students on May 7 to inform them that board members can t be terminated by the college.
Hunt could still be removed through the state recall process that would require signatures of 3% of CCC district voters before setting the date for a special election.
As first reported by Pamplin Media Group, the resident of the unincorporated Gladstone area was picked up in April during an undercover sting conducted by the Portland Police Bureau. A former Oregon House Speaker and current CCC board member, Hunt was among eight men cited in an operation where officers posted online decoy ads on known human trafficking websites, and people who according to the bure ....

UPDATED THURSDAY, MAY 6, 12:40 P.M.: The Clackamas Board of County Commissioners has decided, for now, not to end an emergency housing declaration nearly three months before its scheduled sunset. The board s decision Thursday, May 6, to stall their action on ending the declaration came after a somewhat bitter discussion over whether rescinding the emergency order would impact the county s ability to be agile in responding to safety threats to Clackamas County s unhoused populations caused by extreme weather events such as ice storms, wildfires or heat. It is set to expire on Aug. 1, 2021, but has been renewed by the board each of the last four years. ....
