Science Café will discuss COVID-19 vaccines in pregnancy and kids under 12 years old

The University of Nebraska Medical Center s (UNMC) Science Café will host talks about COVID-19 vaccines during pregnancy and for chidden under the age of 12, according to a press release from UNMC.
Neonatology expert, Ann Anderson Berry MD, PhD, and pediatric infectious diseases expert, Kari Simonsen MD will lead the discussion, said the press release.
“The research that we are conducting as part of a national multi-center trial will help to determine the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine in pediatric patients aged 6 months to 11 years, and is a critical part of getting our pediatric population protected from the consequences of this viral infection,” Dr. Anderson Berry said. ....

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) After a year of unknown, followed by vaccinations for millions, the Child Health Research Institute and UNMC are looking to make an impact when it comes to expanding who can receive the vaccine.
“Now, we’re interested in understanding how this vaccine works a little bit better in special populations. So, in particular, we’re interested in the lifespan continuum,” Dr. Ann Anderson Berry, the Executive Director at Child Health Research Institute, said. ....
