NRL 2021: Everything you need to know about COVID-19 enforced Queensland move

How many people will be in each team’s bubble and will they be forced to isolate?
Each team’s bubble will include a combined 41 players and staff (30 players and 11 staff). They will only be allowed to leave the bubble for training and matches within the first 14 days of arriving in Queensland. Beyond that point they will follow public health orders.
Will families be allowed to travel with teams?
The NRL has agreed to pay for the families of players to travel with the teams. They will stay at the same hotels as the players.
With 12 teams including Jai Arrow and Adam Reynolds’ South Sydney heading for the border, the likelihood of the grand final being held at Suncorp Stadium continues to grow.

Relocation could be for entire NRL season

The NRL will reschedule 23 games originally booked in for NSW as hundreds of players and staff prepare for a relocation into Queensland that could extend the length of the season.
Twelve clubs based in NSW and the ACT will be shifted into hubs in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast by Wednesday for at least a month.
Games scheduled for the next four rounds will be revised over the next few days and moved to Suncorp Stadium, Cbus Super Stadium and Sunshine Coast Stadium.
While the NRL flagged a return to Sydney as soon as it is safe to do so, chief executive Andrew Abdo said there is a possibility some clubs would need to remain in Queensland until the end of the season.

NRL scrambles to move 12 NSW and ACT teams to Queensland

The NRL are eying off a month of double-headers and triple-headers as they navigate the logistical nightmare of moving the competition to Queensland.
The league is finalising plans to move 12 NSW and ACT-based clubs into three dedicated hubs in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast by Wednesday.
It comes as NSW continues to grapple with an outbreak of the Delta strain of Covid-19 with 112 new cases reported on Monday.
The sudden shift of location has come with good news with fans likely to enjoy back to back games while the competition is being held in Queensland.

It’s official. The escalating COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney means the NRL is shipping up to Queensland.
The Australian Rugby League Commission (ARLC) met yesterday and made the call, which will see every team except Melbourne in Queensland for at least the next month and most probably longer.
It’s going to be bloody tough on players and officials, who have to say goodbye to their families on three days notice and won’t get the chance to see them for weeks unless the NRL can make it work.

NRL double-headers likely as part of hubs

The NRL are eying off a month of double-headers and triple-headers as they navigate the logistical nightmare of moving the competition to Queensland.
Plans for the shift of 12 NSW and ACT clubs were being finalised on Monday, with league bosses realistic that the rest of the season could be played out in Queensland.
Clubs were also feeling the pinch, trying to squeeze the cavalcades of support staff into just 11 bubble vacancies after having almost double as many non-players allowed in last year.

Get Caught Up: Round 17 must-see moments
Furner said the club would take 29 players to Queensland for their month-long trip. The group won't include Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad (season-ending neck injury) and Curtis Scott, who remains stood down after an off-field incident more than a month ago.
The remainder of the maximum 41 personnel allowed to travel with be coaching and operational staff.
"That can change with injuries and suspension but 29 [players] should get us through," Furner said.
"This particular arrangement is set down for four weeks and could go for longer. I think 29 will cover us for four weeks unless we run into a very bad state of injuries."

NRL 2021: Dragons face extended quarantine, police monitor NRL teams

Dragons players Zac Lomax and Daniel Alvaro may be sidelined for up to a month while the Queensland government has foreshadowed police monitoring of team quarantine facilities when 12 NRL clubs arrive in the Sunshine State.
Lomax and Alvaro remain outside St George Illawarra's COVID-19 bubble as 10 of their teammates returned to training on Monday, having signed sworn statements regarding the events of the recent illegal gathering at Paul Vaughan's house at Shellharbour.
Lomax and Alvaro have declined to sign their individual documents on legal advice, and unless they do must remain in a COVID-19 hold that will prevent them from travelling with St George Illawarra's 41-member bubble to Queensland on Wednesday.
