Minister insists on quality in Nadu-Nedu works


473 junior colleges to be covered under second phase of scheme
Education Minister A. Suresh on Wednesday said no compromise should be made in the quality of works taken up as part of Nadu-Nedu in junior colleges.
In a video conference, he said in the second phase of the programme, besides schools, junior colleges were also being included. Of the 16,345 educational institutions that would get a facelift in this round, 473 of them were junior colleges, he said.
The Minister said all works would be taken up under the supervision of the College Development Committees to ensure transparency and accountability. The officials should coordinate with regard to their roles and see to it that the works were completed before the stipulated deadline, he said. ....

Minister promises to look into issues raised by teachers’ union
Leaders of the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation on Wednesday met Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh and appealed to him to exempt teachers from the responsibility of uploading information on the several apps introduced by the school education authorities.
Federation’s State president N. Venkateswarlu, general secretary K.S.S. Prasad and Krishna-Guntur Graduate constituency MLC K.N. Lakshman Rao drew the Minister’s attention to the problems being faced by school headmasters, especially those posted in the rural and agency areas, in uploading information using different apps due to network problem or insufficient capacity of the servers. ....

Leaders of Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation (APUTF) on Tuesday called upon teachers across the State to participate in large numbers in the proposed demonstration at the office of the Director of School Education at Ibrahimpatnam, on April 12 and make it a success.
In a statement, federation’s State president N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said the teaching community was bogged down by several issues.
Like every other sector, the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic had an adverse impact on the education sector too. Schools were closed down, exams were cancelled and students had no access to education. Though the government tried to reach out to them through online classes, a large number of students remained outside the realm of the new mode of education as they did not have access to Internet or even smart phones. ....

Implementation of health scheme for aided school teachers sought
The members of the Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation (UTF) on Sunday unanimously decided to field the federation’s State president Shaik Sabjee as their candidate from the East and West Godavari districts and former MLC Boddu Nageswara Rao from the Krishna-Guntur teachers’ constituencies in the ensuing elections to the Legislative Council.
In a meeting held in Vijayawada, federation’s State general secretary P. Babu Reddy proposed the two names for the MLC seats. Mr. Babu Reddy said at a time when the rights of the teachers and employees were trampled upon, there was a need to raise voice through candidates who had been in the forefront in agitations staged for the cause of the fraternity. ....
