VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government is giving Bright kids and families the early childhood facilities they deserve, with work starting on the exciting Alpine View Children’s Centre upgrade. Minister for Early Childhood Ingrid Stitt and Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes today turned the first sod of the $1.16 million upgrade, which will increase the number of places supported by 52 at the kindergarten and improve its facilities. The expanded centre will include two additional playroom spaces within the main building. The works also include a new modular building to provide after-hours school care for students next door at Bright P-12 College. The revamped centre will open in January 2022.

âThey need to lift their game,â she said. Merri Community Child Care Centre director Helen Evdokimou said the centre, which offers all-day childcare with an integrated kinder program, would display the tick to give its families added confidence. âWe do OK with enrolments, we have been a centre of choice for many families, so I think it will probably reinforce it for some,â Ms Evdokimou said. âUltimately, the tick is a great thing to promote kinder.â The state government has also committed up to $169.6 million towards free kinder this year, saving families up to $2000, although many not-for profit kindergartens are ineligible for the program.
