The National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC ) organised a meeting with parliamentarians on the health hazards of sugar-sweetened beverages among adolescents and children in the country.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, the advocacy meeting was attended by National Heart Association (PANAH) President Maj Gen(retd) Masudur Rehman Kiani, NCRC Chairperson Afshan Tehseen, General Secretary Ch. Sanaullah Ghumman, Consultant Food Policy Programme Munawar Husain, and Parliamentary Secretary Health Dr Nosheen Hamid and others.
It was discussed in the meeting that sugar-sweetened beverages, which include drinks with added sugar such as soda, fruit drinks and energy drinks are frequently consumed by children and adolescents in Pakistan. An increase in the consumption of suga ....

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary on Health Dr Nosheen Hamid on Wednesday lamented that People are not getting themselves registered for the coronavirus vaccine jab despite the fact that registrations have been allowed up to the age of 50.
Speaking to media, the senior health official noted: As of now, a little over 2mn people have gotten themselves registered [for the vaccine]. Out of these, 650,000 are healthcare workers. ....

ISLAMABAD: China will donate 500,000 additional drops of the coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan this month, said Parliamentary Secretary on Health Dr Nosheen Hamid.
“China has already donated 1.5 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Pakistan,” said Dr Hamid on Tuesday as she spoke to media, adding that the 500,000 doses from Beijing will be delivered to Pakistan this month.
Speaking about the pandemic and the government’s vaccination process, Dr Hamid lamented that people were not getting themselves registered for the coronavirus vaccine jab.
“As of now, a little over 2 million people have gotten themselves registered [for the vaccine],” she said. “Out of these, 650,000 are healthcare workers.” ....
