Chiefs blank Spruce Kings in first place showdown SHARE ON: Ethan Bowen picked a good time to dethrone the Prince George Spruce Kings. His two-goal third period performance propelled the Chilliwack Chiefs to a 3-0 victory on Monday. With the win, the Chiefs leapfrog past PG for top spot inside the Chilliwack pod, holding a one point edge. After a scoreless first period, Connor Milburn found the back of the cage against Spruce Kings netminder Aaron Trotter to draw the initial marker in the first-place showdown. The Chiefs went 1-for-5 on the man advantage and outshot PG 26-25. Fifth-year goaltender Mathieu Caron pitched the shutout for Chilliwack. ....
Spruce Kings wallop Chiefs; extend win streak to six SHARE ON: The finish line is in sight for the Prince George Spruce Kings. A two-goal performance from Corey Cunningham led the BCHL’s most northern franchise to a convincing 7-3 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Friday. PG jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after 20 minutes courtesy of Mason Waite and Carter Cochrane who found the back of the net against veteran Chiefs netminder Mathieu Caron. The second period resembled a special-team fest for the lack of a better term. Tanner Andrew evened the score for Chilliwack on the power-play at the 12:56 mark finding a way to light the lamp against Spruce Kings goaltender Aaron Trotter. ....
Spruce Kings dominate Chilliwack, extend win streak to three games SHARE ON: Kolton Cousins is becoming a fan of bubble life. The 18-year-old forward led the Prince George Spruce Kings with a pair of goals on Saturday in a 5-2 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs extending their win streak to three games. “I think guys are working hard as we stick to our structure. Our shot selection was pretty good tonight putting everything on net and sticking to the process. I think that is key and all 23 guys are going right now, which is why we are having success,” added Cousins. ....
Trotter, Spruce Kings deliver superb performance against Chilliwack SHARE ON: The Prince George Spruce Kings didn’t make the same mistake twice against the Chilliwack Chiefs. After blowing a two-goal lead and dropping a 3-2 shootout decision on Sunday, the Spruce Kings locked it down against the Pod hosts on Wednesday, skating away with a 2-0 victory. “We shut them down. I think our defensive zone looked pretty good, we were limiting them to outside shots and that is what you have to do against this team. We tried to keep the puck more and not throw it away and I think we did that,” said Christian Buono, Spruce Kings forward. ....
In a whirlwind week of BCHL action that saw the Centennials play three games in four nights, the Merritt squad was able to pick up its first pair of points on the season. It was quite a strong bounce-back effort for the Cents on Thurs. April 8, just 24 hours after allowing the Prince George Spruce Kings to score in the double digits for a third straight loss. Yet hitting the ice for game four of the shortened pod season, a quick turnaround had Merritt up 2-0 after twenty minutes of play against the Chilliwack Chiefs in their own barn, thanks to the first of the season from both Walker Erickson and Josh Olson. Erickson capitalized after a nice give-and-go with Brandon Dent, before just over one minute later, Olson shovelled home a rebound after a few deflections in close. ....
