LANGAT: The Selangor government has given the green light for Large Scale Solar (LSS) farm projects to be developed on agricultural land.
State Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman Hee Loy Sian said previously, solar farm projects were only allowed to be developed on industrial land.
“Before this, (operators) have problems with the land status but now we are making it easier for them whereby agricultural land can be turned into solar farms. We used to require industrial land but not anymore,” he told reporters after visiting the LSS project in Kuala Langat today. ....

You are never too young to learn to love and protect the environment. Non-Profit Organisation, Green Hero recently organised a two-day programme in celebration of World Earth Day 2021 for 50 children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuvin Mahligai and their families, to spread the message about conservation.
The programme aimed to educate participants on sustainable habits through various activities in the two-day event, held at the Semenyih Eco Venture Resort & Recreation.
Participants got to go jungle trekking and enjoy the natural surroundings at the resort.
One of the highlights was a campfire session where all lights were switched off to mark Earth Day. The participants take turns to pledge to play their part in making the world a better place and fight climate change. ....

Fire at paint factory does not affect water supply in Selangor

ALAM: The water pollution incident in Sungai Batang Benar due to a fire at a paint factory in Nilai 3, Negeri Sembilan, yesterday afternoon has not affected the water supply to consumers in Selangor.
Selangor Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman Hee Loy Sian in a statement today said following the incident, the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) had activated the yellow code based on the Water Resources Pollution Emergency Manual for a thorough investigation at the affected area.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that a white stream of water had entered Lake Ujana Nilai Impian, Negeri Sembilan before entering Sungai Batang Benar. The incident was detected following firefighting work at the paint factory,” he said. ....

The proposal to degazette the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve is still under discussion and the Selangor government is examining the views of relevant experts, said Selangor Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairperson Hee Loy Sian.
Hee said many aspects need to be considered before a decision on the status of the degazetting of the forest is made including the socio-economy, development and welfare of the Orang Asli.
