Petition seeks to remove offenders services from same building where victims seek services

By Victoria Gray Writer After a brutally violent experience causing long-lasting trauma, the last thing victims want when seeking help is to run into their perpetrators, whether there’s a no contact order or not. But, because Six Nations Correctional Services (SNCS) including its Adult Native Supervision Program is located in the same building as Six Nations Social Services (SNSS), those victims trying to access services have the potential to end up face-to-face with the person convicted of a crime against them, while that convict accesses SNCS. The possibility of being re-traumatized is keeping some community members from accessing services they still need, including one who wished to remain anonymous, who is trying to navigate the system to benefit three young children who suffered abuse they are trying to work through…. ....
