A spokesman of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has confirmed the abduction of Dr Jones Gilbert Ayuwo, a lecturer with the Linguistics and Communications Department.
Sam Kpenu, the university spokesman, said Ayuwo was abducted along the Andoni-Opobo-Ogoni road.
“The incident happened towards the axis of Ogoni. There were three other occupants in the car.
“The kidnappers forcefully ejected the other occupants in the car and forcefully took Dr. Ayuwo into their own car.
“The kidnappers didn t abandon Ayuwo s car.They drove away Ayuwo s car. Since that yesterday till date we have not heard anything from Ayuwo or his kidnappers”. ....

UNIPORT lecturer abducted, 3 journalists attacked in Rivers

PORT HARCOURT – Suspected gunmen have abducted a lecturer with the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Dr Jones Ayuwo, and attacked three journalists of the Rivers State Television (RSTV).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that Ayuwo, a lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Communications Studies, was kidnapped on Sunday night on Andoni-Ogoni Road, Rivers.
The victim was said to have been returning from a meeting with members of his local language Bible translation committee when he was attacked.
Ayuwo, whose wife is the Bursar of UNIPORT, also serves as a member of the Governing Council of Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt. ....
