The Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI), Mangaluru, will, in association with other entrepreneurs associations, fund a portion of ₹84 lakh required for setting up an oxygen generation plant at the Government Lady Goschen Hospital in the city.
CREDAI Mangaluru president Pushparaj Jain said that the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Mangaluru Contractors Association have given ₹15 lakh each, while the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers has given ₹8 lakh. The remaining amount will be given by CREDAI, he said.
Mr. Jain and other members handed over a cheque for ₹41.86 lakh on Thursday to the district administration towards the cost of construction of the plant. ....

World's tallest pier bridge in Manipur an engineering marvel

Mysore/Mysuru: The world’s tallest pier bridge in
Manipur is an engineering marvel. The bridge across river Ijai near Noney between Jiribam and Imphal in Manipur has the tallest pier height of 141 metres. It surpasses the existing record of 139 metres of Mala-Rijeka viaduct, Montenegro in Europe.
The bridge is a part of Jiribam-Tupul-Imphal new broad gauge line project (111 km) and the total length of the bridge is 703 metres. The piers of the bridge were constructed using hydraulic augers and they needed specially designed ‘slip-form technique’ to ensure efficient and continual construction, observed Saibaba Ankala, Chief Engineer, Indian Railways.

Gandhinagar, Feb 12 : Real estate developers and contractors in Gujarat on Friday participated in the one-day nationwide strike to protest against the exorbitant and unacceptable price hike of cement and steel.
Construction work on more than 22,000 sites came to a standstill opposing the artificial price hike by the cement and steel companies. The associations on strike also demanded that the government should constitute a cement regulatory authority for price regulation. ....
