Sports January 29, 2021 KARACHI: Former left-arm spinner Iqbal Qasim has said that a dramatic comeback in the last hour of day three had put Pakistan in the driving seat in the first Test against South Africa at the National Stadium in Karachi. He said that South Africa bounced back remarkably as Rassie van der Dussen (64) and Aiden Markarm (74) forged a fighting partnership of 127 for the second wicket. He applauded Yasir Shah for turning the game around with the wickets of Rassie and Faf du Plessis. He said that Pakistan should try to remove the remaining six wickets as quickly as possible. “They have to restrict the Proteas lead within 150. Top Story January 27, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Rejecting the opposition’s allegations that NAB was conducting political engineering and victimization, Chairman National Accountability Bureau Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said on Tuesday NAB was being accused of all the ills of the country except coronavirus pandemic. “Those hurling allegations are the ones against whom NAB investigated graft charges or pursuing corruption references and if anyone thinks that he was being victimized, he must approach the court to clear his name,” he said while addressing businessmen and traders at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Rejecting the notion of political engineering, he said NAB had nothing to do with the politics. “If my engineering were any good, then I would have retired as an engineer instead of a judge,” he said. He said some people say that the NAB and Pakistan cannot coexist but he says instead corruption and Pakistan cannot co-exist. ....
Top Story January 27, 2021 ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal said on Tuesday the anti-corruption watchdog will never take any action to harass any genuine businessman, but will go after those who commit fraud with people. Addressing businessmen at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), he maintained the bureau had never asked any businessman about his source of capital and investment, except in money laundering cases. “NAB has never stopped any investment project as they are greatly contributing to strengthen the country’s economy.” Justice Iqbal said he had already issued instructions to the NAB authorities that no businessman should be called through telephone to the bureau office nor he should be humiliated in any manner. ....
