Irma D Angelo Ricci, born March 31, 1942, passed away peacefully Friday June 25, 2021. In 1957, Irma, a bold courageous young woman, travelled from Cantalupo, Isernia, to Fort William Ontario Canada. She was only 15 years old when her family made the big journey overseas to discover new opportunities. She quickly entered the work force as a waitress at a local diner where she met the love of her life, Sergio Ricci. Her eyes didn t like him the first time, as he had just finished working in the bush camp, and hadn t cleaned up. Second time was the charm, her eyes approved. They married February 7, 1959, and started their beautiful family of three kids in 1961. ....

Sharon Kovacic, the marketing community outreach co-ordinator with Yes Employment Services, is monitoring the situation. “We are definitely seeing a lot of job postings and we are receiving lot of employer calls. We are looking at diverse jobs that are coming in from all sectors,” she said. “On the other side, we are not seeing as many people coming in as we would have thought and we have no idea why that is.” ....

His appointment was announced during the chamber s annual general meeting, held virtually May 4-5. Lawrence is a managing partner with Royal LePage Lannon Realty and a licensed mortgage broker with Dominion Lending Centres Mortgage Excellence. He holds an honours bachelor of commerce degree, with a major in human resource management, from Lakehead University. Lawrence is also an active community member. ....

Article continues below advertisement ↴ Ontario is introducing rapid COVID-19 testing in participating small and medium-sized businesses to help screen employees for asymptomatic COVID-19 cases, to help prevent outbreaks and keep workplaces open. Chambers of Commerce across Ontario are being asked to register for the rapid antigen testing program through the provincial Chamber of Commerce. As of May 7, over 760,000 rapid test kits have already been shipped to 50 Chambers of Commerce, and an additional 50 chambers have expressed interest. The free rapid antigen test can be performed anywhere and doesn’t require shipping a specimen to a lab for processing. It’s administered through a nasal swab and takes about 15 minutes to receive a result. ....

(Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com/FILE) THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce is calling on the provincial government to temporarily cover the costs of employee sick days in the effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19. President Charla Robinson on Monday said while she agrees paid sick days are necessary, expecting small businesses already struggling because of lockdowns to foot the bill is unrealistic. Unfortunately, she said, until some measures are put in place, employees who are not feeling well will continue to head to work, unwilling or unable to sacrifice a day or more of pay. ....
