A vaccination camp on the IIEST campus, which was shut down because of vaccine shortage, will resume on Friday for four days to ensure that the Covaxin recipients get their second dose on time.
The stop-start nature of the camp on the Shibpur campus shows how the vaccination drive has moved everywhere in Bengal because of erratic supply of doses.

Research shows that those who commit crimes against animals have a higher disposition to commit crimes against human beings
Some months ago, Anoushka, Abhishek, Sarthak, Garvita and Rishabh wrote to me from Thapar Institute and Technology, Patiala College, in Patiala, requesting guidance with an animal welfare group they had started on the campus called Puppers Helpers Tiet.
This gave me a new idea – of starting animal welfare groups in every college campus. So, we put yet another Anushka, who came to me as a legal intern, in charge of this. If any of you would like to start a group you can contact her at anushkapfacampus@gmail.com. She already has 30 college units, and my target is 50,000.

The IIEST students’ senate has appealed to the director to reconsider the decision to hold supplementary exams on the campus from May 5 at a time Covid cases are on the rise across the country, an official of the institute said.
The students’ senate, which represents all students of the institute, wants the test to be held online.
It has written to director Parthasarathi Chakrabarti that as many of the students were from worst-affected states such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, it would not be advisable to call them back to the Shibpur campus amid a renewed surge in the epidemic.
