NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday lashed out at a media report which alleged that India-Russia annual summit was postponed this year due to Moscow’s sensitivities over Quad and asserted “Spreading false stories in important relationships is particularly irresponsible.” ....

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday termed Rahul Gandhi s tweet on the cancellation of India-Russia summit as false and misleading , explaining that the scheduled meeting between the two nations was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier today, the Congress leader attributed to a news report that claimed the recent cancellation of the India-Russia annual summit, the first in two decades, was due to Moscow s unease with Quad a group of US, Japan, Australia and India to counter Chinese influence in Indo-Pacific region.
The ministry of external affairs said that the scheduled summit was cancelled due to coronavirus pandemic.
This was a mutually agreed decision between the two governments. Any imputation otherwise is false and misleading. Spreading false stories in important relationships is particularly irresponsible, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson said. ....
